Diversity and Facilitation
We know that people learn best when they are relaxed and having fun, so we work hard to create an environment in which everybody can be themselves and be valued for who they are and what they bring to the group.
We promote diversity and equality in a proactive way, and highlight how this underpins world-class business performance. We aim to ensure that equal access is given to all in terms of the venue, location and layout of the room as well as making materials accessible to all.
When working with your staff we ensure participants value one another as individuals, that they value the differences between them, and look for ways to harness those differences to improve business performance and provide the best possible service for all customers.
Because we ask participants to establish a course contract at the beginning of programmes, we only rarely come across inappropriate comments or behaviour. Whilst we will challenge them immediately, this is done constructively by referring to our ground rules. We believe it is important to do it in full group rather than privately as it signals clearly that such comments are not acceptable. Should it recur we deal with it firmly by asking others in the group whether the behaviour is acceptable and, following these interventions, we would speak privately to the individual.
Of course we must be seen to model inclusive behaviour ourselves. We encourage participants both to be themselves and to extend their comfort zones by experimenting with new skills and new ways of learning in a safe environment.
