Being an Associate

We believe we are one of the best training providers in the UK, and use only high calibre training consultants. We hold several long-term contracts with Central Government Departments, set to run for between 3-5 years. This means we are able to offer more security than many other training organisations, as we can see a full order book for a long time ahead.

Our clients are spread across the UK, so it will be necessary to spend time away from home.

We work with high profile clients in the public sector, and have very high expectations in terms of the service we provide. This is reflected in our expectations of our Associates who we rely upon to provide us with a high quality of service.

Those Associates who consistently provide us with a high quality service and maintain high standards for design and delivery of training are given first choice when it comes to sub-contracting projects.

dls ltd holds the ISO 9001:2000 quality standard and is it important that all associates comply with our procedures and the way we do things. This is especially important when it comes to design and development of materials where we never compromise on our standards just to win a contract. For us it is not every job at any price and we prefer to turn down work if we know we cannot maintain our standards.

You may find that our project methodology for the design of materials and how we present them to the client is different to your own style. We have developed a house style over the past 10 years and it is one that our clients prefer, and one of the reasons we win so much repeat business.

Our expectations for associates are:

  • The ability to respond to phone message, e-mails, faxes and requests within 1 working day
  • To hold public liability and professional indemnity insurance to at least £1m or more
  • To have a permanent on line fax machine
  • To always work to the highest professional standards and business ethics
  • Not to accept work from us knowing that you cannot meet the client's deadlines
  • To assist in the preparation of proposals and tenders
  • Be prepared to attend sales meetings and review meetings with clients at no cost
  • To have an annual personal development plan
  • To keep your computer updated with the latest versions of Word and PowerPoint
  • To be fully conversant with the latest initiatives in the training and development area
  • Able to offer us flexibility and be prepared to accept training assignments at short notice, sometimes with only 1 day's notice

Our expectations may seem high but in return we offer:

  • The opportunity to regularly work on challenging and interesting projects with high profile clients
  • The opportunity to work in collaboration with the other members of our associate network
  • A wide range of programmes to get involved in
  • A long-term arrangement, with volumes offered to the best suppliers. We regularly allocate more than 10 days per month for our top associates
  • An opportunity to design and develop, as well as deliver training. This provides a welcome opportunity to work from home - although facilitating programmes is enjoyable, it is nice to sleep in your own bed!
  • The opportunity to work on projects with other freelancers - people often say it can be quite lonely working as a freelancer.
  • Administration staff who will provide full support in all the administration arrangements such your travel requirements, delivery of training and provision of training materials. But please note that they do not provide an administration service for Associates
  • Payment in 30 days of invoice date.
